We had one of your suckling pigs for Christmas Dinner. Decided to go for something completely different this time and we were not disappointed. The quality of the pig was first class. I roasted it in the oven for 3 1/2 hours and the meat literally fell off the bone. It was succulent and flavoursome. Cannot thank you enough. We also had some of your sausage. My husband says your sausages are the best he has ever had. We will definitely be coming back for more. Thank you so much. The quality of the meat made christmas dinner really special. 1st January 2012 - After some family disagreement about what to have for this year's Xmas dinner, we plumped for slow roasted shoulder of pork from Ballardsfield. I can safely say we will NEVER be going back to anything else! Coupled with the marvellous chipolatas and streaky bacon, it was the most wonderful roast meat any of us have ever had. The sausage rolls didn't last very long either! Thank you the Ballards for a wonderful product, and we will be back to stock up on bangers soon!

23rd December 2011 - If you are in the habit of buying supermarket meat Ballardsfield Old Spot is going to come as a bit of a shock to you. This is REAL meat. Not the over-processed water injected minimum standard rubbish the big boys sell. Ballardsfield Old Spot bacon, in particular, is in it's own class. I would not bother to buy supermarket bacon at all now, I would rather go without. The sausages also are sooooooo tasty; and the meat joints have more flavour than any other pork products I have tasted anywhere. Ooooh, this is making me hungry. Perren, St Austell
11th December 2011 - As someone who used to keep rare pigs I was delighted to come across Adrian & Clares pigs. During the summer we had a triple birthday celebration and the birthday girls requested a hog roast, so I set to work to build a spit roast it was completed useing all reclaimed bits and pieces around the farm The crowning glory was the pig, on the spit it looked magnificent rubbed with garlic, onion and sage it started roasting at 10am over a bed of charcoal and vine prunings and after a lot of basting and smoke doging was ready at 7.00pm, ceremoniously lifted from the spit by four strong hungery carnivors and placed ready to carve. WOW! WOW! WOW! was all that coud be heard, everyone went back for seconds and the crackling they could not get enough of it.
What am I trying to say after all my ramblings. The best pig we have tasted dont take my word try it.

27th May 2011 - Yes, Yes, Yes, To British pork as the latest nationwide campaign launched by British pig farmers states. I would like to add another Yes to Adrian and Clare at Ballardsfields. We upsticks and moved down from Shropshire just over a year ago. By chance I happended to pass by Ballardsfield and noticed the farm shop sign, on driving in I took one look at the Old Spots being reared in a natural enviroment and had to try their pork. Since then I'm a regular and no longer shop at the suppermarket for my pork be it sausages, bacon or joints. Their Bacon and sausages are to die for reared as pork use to be and your not paying through the nose ( or should I say snout ),No sow stalls, No water injected meat thanks Denmark ! If your having a BBQ this summer try the Pork burgers more taste than beef !
Keep up the good work and enthusiasm, I'm also now a customer for life.

29th December 2010 - Dear Sir I bought a pack of your Dry Cured bacon a couple of weeks ago and you asked me to tell you if it was as good as the bacon that we buy from Lichfield (Staffs) well, you promised me that it was the best in Cornwall and I must agree with you, it really is the best that we have been able to find in 9 years that we have lived here. I am pleased to be able to tell you that when our frozen stocks run out in a few weeks time I shall become a regular client and will call at the farm shop for a quantity to freeze down - well done. 16th November 2010 - I want to recommend Ballardsfield Farm Shop at Brighton Cross roundabout, Summercourt. If you haven’t been yet, then you’re really missing out!! They sell easily the best pork I have ever tasted! I haven’t found a local butcher who can produce better quality meats. I don’t actually like sausages very much, and would usually opt for vegetarian ones, until I encountered Ballardsfield Farm Shop! As a little price comparison: Pack of 8 medium sized frozen Wall’s sausages = £2.39 Pack of 6 huge, frozen from fresh Ballardsfield Breakfast Sausages = £2.92 The frozen joints taste like they’ve never seen a freezer, and you get perfect crackling with no apparent effort whatsoever. You can also buy eggs, chutneys and cookies!! It is family run and family friendly, which reflects in the high quality produce and low price. If you turn up to the shop and it’s closed you can call the number on the board and someone will unlock for you, with no obligation to buy – although I’m certain you won’t want to leave empty handed! They also have off-road parking for customer convenience.
I am keen on animal welfare and I think it is safe to say that the piggies I saw running around in the grassy fields look pretty well cared for to me! Also, Clare Ballard beams when she talks about her pigs. 8th August 2010 - I'm sure you'll have tried pork. I'm pretty certain you'll have tried pork. You probably think you've eaten pork. Newsflash...until you've experienced Ballardsfield pork my friend, you have certainly not truly eaten pork!! I have a small restaurant in Bonnie Scotland and did some 'Old Spot' research. Once I had convinced Clare that it wasn't a hoax and that I really did want my customers to sample 'The Best of English', it was all systems go on simply the most sublime pork ever given the sausage and burger treatment. Take my advice. Have a Ballardsfield feast. We Scots know best...we eat a lot of meat in the chilly North!! Congratulations to Adrian & Clare on a simply splendid product. Colin McNicoll, Perthshire

24th May 2010 - Hi there - my daughter and I came into your farmshop on Friday and bought all sorts of scrummy stuff from you - hers went to St Austell and was truly delicious so I'm told and ours travelled very well back to Hampshire and was also scrummy. We both had shoulder joints which were slow cooked - they put the crackling under the grill and we did ours over a cooking fire in the garden - both excellent. Bacon, burgers and sausages also fab - thanks loads and we'll definitely be back for more :-). Helen, Hampshire
22nd November 2009 - Great pork, real cracking and the best every gravy from the meat juices. Roasted a shoulder very good flavor and also had some of the breakfast sausages cooked some fresh and some after freezing both tasted fab nothing lost from freezing them the sausages had a good texture. So impressed am I that I've just ordered gammon (smoked) sausage and bacon for Christmas. Will be a regular visitor from now on. Jensen is still talking about the pigs in mud. Thanks Frank, Cornwall
4th October 2009 - We have just tried your old spot plain sausages.OMG!It is the best tasting sausage we have EVER had. We really like the pork and sage but the plain even tops that. 22nd May 2009 - We called in and bought a selection of pork about a month ago and we are absolutely delighted. The joints are all really beautiful, the flavour is amazing, the best I have ever tasted. All the pork joints make amazing crackling! The sausages are the best quality I have ever seen/tasted in the whole of the UK. I try to call in when ever I am passing, quite often I will buy a tray of eggs. These too are really nice and fresh, with good thick shells. I think that what you are doing there is terrific and we as a family will continue to support you and would not dream of buying our pork from anywhere else. 11th February 2009 - I have been buying the pork box for mail order from here since the middle of last year and can honestly say the pork is the best i have ever tasted. I have also had the lamb box and this too is absolutley full of flavour. The prices are very competative and delivery up here to manchester is always on time. 30th January 2009 - If you saw Jamie saves our bacon last night and want some "proper pork" try Ballardsdfield Farm. I have been getting my pork, sausage and bacon from them for about a year now as I wanted meat that was not pumped full of antibiotics, hormones or water. The pigs are born and reared outdoors all year round and when you visit the farm shop the pigs can be seen rooting around in the fields. I love pork products but I also care about the welfare of the animals. These pigs are well and truly taken care of, resulting in old fashioned traditional farm pork that tastes like it used to - not like the commercially bred imports we get in the supermarket today. - Tina Bilkey - Cornwall.
28th January 2009 - Hello ladies, I'm sure some of you will have seen Clare advertising her 'Ballardsfield Farm' pork. I just wanted to 'big her up' as this is the nicest meat I have ever had (and the sausages are wonderful!) In addition it's so nice to be able to go to the farm and see the conditions the animals are kept in and watch them behaving like pigs are supposed to! With so much adverse publicity about animal husbandry lately it's good to know that there are some good guys out there and I think Clare and Adrian are two of them. What we liked was that the sausages didn't shrink in the oven and there was none of the horrible fat swirling around that you have to drain off. We received our 1/4 pig box on friday and had pork chops for dinner along with the kidney. I can honestly say it was fantastic. The meat has suberb flavour and texture and the kidney is to die for. We are having a shoulder roast tonight and am really looking forward to it. We are so impressed with your service, delivery, meat packed and labelled etc. and the bacon is beautiful too.

We have had sausage, bacon, gammon, pork joints and chops and it all tastes like old fashioned Pork with real crackling.
We tried it as we wanted to know where our food was coming from and what was in it for the benefit of our childrens health and we are very glad that we found them.

22nd August - Hi, Just to let you know that our order arrived today, no probs and after trimming and rolling the belly was delicious.
The eggs were a lovely touch but didn't make the journey unfortunatly, which was a shame, but as I keep my own chickens I had actually meant to send a message to not include the eggs. So just for future reference really that the eggs would really need to be put in polly boxes or something similar to stop a few kilos of pork squashing them.
